It appears as a world object in Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. There are three models in the game. The first is missing the back entrance door, the second is accessible with the door open serving as a ramp, and the third has the back entrance sealed. Some loot can usually be found in or around these vehicles including stimpaks and level-dependent weapons.
Deployed routinely across the United States during the Sino-American War, the APC was used for crowd control and to transport troops to key hotspots in the safety of its armored shell.[Non-game 2] A number of these vehicles have been restored after the Great War and used by high technology factions, such as the Brotherhood First Expeditionary Force in Appalachia.[2]
The APC is a six-wheeled armored combat vehicle designed for supporting infantry operations and transporting soldiers through the battlefield. Typically painted with olive drab camouflage, with seven number serials and the United States Armed Forces star painted on the sides and warning strip on the front side. It is tall with a forward driver's position sitting over the engine. The driver's seat is contained within a compartment isolated from the rear part of the vehicle, entered from the roof of the vehicle (accessible through steps cut into the hull of the vehicle). The troop section fitted with two benches on each side, storage labeled with numbers and instructions mandating that any troops in power armor must remain upright while in the vehicle.[3]
The vehicle can carry six soldiers and two power armor units in this section and provide fire support to soldiers after they dismount [Non-game 2] with a 105mm gun[1] in an autonomous dorsal turret and a pair of ball-mounted 76mm guns to the sides of the driver's cabin.[1]
The APC was used for other purposes aside from troop transportation, including medical evacuation.[4] Due to its shielding, it could also be used to transport radioactive waste, for example, in decontamination operations.[5]
There are unique NPC idle animations that are used with this vehicle. These can be observed by going to any checkpoint where they are found after at least one recurring defense quest is completed. Any surviving allies can be observed restoring or salvaging the vehicles.
